Colleen McColgan, MS, CCLS
President

Waltham, MA

Colleen received her BA in Social and Rehabilitation Services from Assumption College in Worcester, MA.  In 1999, Colleen received her MS in Child Life and Family Centered Care from Wheelock College.  After graduating, Colleen worked at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Boston, MA for seven years.  While working at Franciscan, she was also the Program Coordinator for the Good Grief Program and an Adjunct Instructor for Child Life at Wheelock College.  She is currently working at Children's Hospital, Boston at Waltham in Waltham, MA.  
    
Rachel Alley, BS, CCLS

Rachel received her BS degree in Rehabilitation Services with a concentration in pediatrics from Springfield College.  She has worked at Baystate Children's Hospital since 1992.  She originally started the in-hospital school program, co-facilitated a school-age bereavement group for 7 years, and primarily works inpatient with the infant/toddler population.  Rachel also coordinates the student internship program at Baystate. She recently became a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and looks forward to incorporating this into her practice.

Karen Swartz is a Certified Child Life Specialist. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Wheelock College. In Boston she received her BS in Human Development with a concentration in Child Life and a MS in Child Life and Family-Centered Care. She has worked at Hasbro since 1999, starting as the Child Life Specialist coordinating the STARBRIGHT World Computer Program. She now works in the Pediatric GI and Nutrition Clinic and the Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma/Allergy Clinic. Currently, she co-facilitates the IBD patient support group.

Kelly Duda, MBA, CCLS

Kelly earned her BS in Human Development with a concentration in Child Life from Wheelock College in 2004. Upon graduating, Kelly joined the team at Horizons for Homeless Children as a Playspace Programs Manager, creating developmentally appropriate Playspaces in area family shelters and managing volunteers to staff supervised playtime for children living in shelters. In 2006, Kelly joined the Starlight team and is currently the Northeast Region Director for Starlight Children’s Foundation. Kelly completed her MBA with a focus in both Nonprofit Management and Human Resources at UMass Boston in 2011.

 
Lisa M. Cantore, MA, CCLS, CEIM

Lisa has been working in the child life field for over 20 years.  She received her BS from Wheelock College (MA) with a dual-major in child life and Preschool/Kindergarten (K-3) and received her MA in Counseling from Saint Joseph College (CT).  Lisa’s previous clinical child life experience included Hartford Hospital (CT) and Hasbro Children’s Hospital (RI).  In 1997, she created and coordinated Camp Dotty, a weeklong day camp for 4-7 year old oncology patients and their siblings, with support from The Tomorrow Fund (RI), which, to date, has served several hundred children.  Lisa is currently working on the inpatient hematology/oncology and infusion floor at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center focusing in the areas of research, as well as chronic pain and adolescent issues.

Kris Bruneau, CCLS

After earning her bachelors degree in Psychology and English from Williams College, Kris worked as a preschool teacher and nanny for a number of years before discovering the child life field.  She completed her internship at Children's Medical Center Dallas before returning to Massachusetts.  Previously she worked as a Child Life Specialist/Care Ambassador at Joslin Diabetes Center.  She has worked at UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center in the pediatric outpatient clinics since 2008, focusing on hematology/oncology and patients with chronic illnesses.
